My journey to health….

I wrote this blog, because so many women have been asking me if I can help them to change from someone who is eternally seeking to be “thin”, trying every fad diet, wasting their lives looking for the next “skinny” fix, and are miserable in the meantime. They want to know how they can lose that mindset and get healthy and strong instead. I decided to write about my journey to health because I can relate to that place they are in, only too well. I’m a TV Host by trade but a fitness and health junkie by nature. My passion for all things healthy came after years of pushing Read more

How can a carb be fast or slow i hear you ask? 41 life lessons I have learned

When i turned 40 I became quite reflective on my life. Over the years I have laughed, loved, cried, had my heart broken – several times – drank too much, smoked too much, dieted too much, stressed too much. But I have also learned to never have regrets. Now in my 41st year i can safely say life just gets better. So i have written 41 things I have learned in my life… 1. We all get old someday. Looks fade. Bodies wither. It’s what’s on the inside that TRULY counts. 2. Never let anyone dull your sparkle. 3. Life is too short to spend with people who suck your energy. I Read more

To Juice or not to Juice.

The first time I juice-fasted was at a detox spa in California called We Care Spa. I had filmed a piece there for Entertainment Tonight and was fascinated by the women and men I was interviewing; sitting by the pool in Palm Desert telling me that by day three, with nothing consumed but vitamins, herbal teas and a few fresh vegetable juices, they were “not at all hungry”. How could that be? I wanted to test their claims for myself.   Fruit and veg provide most of our – without which our cells are weakened and are susceptible to a host of illnesses such as strokes, auto-immune disease and diabetes. Think of fruit and veg as the delivery system that brings the sun’s energy to your cells, giving Read more

Bone Broth: The anti-ageing wonder food

You may have heard of the latest buzz words, “Bone Broth” and thought “Erm, ewwwww, I’ll pass on the witch-like cauldron soup. Thanks very much, but no thanks”. Well don’t dismiss it so quickly! Because bone marrow and the broth you can make from it, is packed with a whole hog of easily digestible anti-ageing nutrients, amino acids (protein) gelatin, glucosamine, fats, vitamins and minerals and when made properly tastes utterly divine! (see recipe below) So what’s the actual scoop? As the bones cook in water, the minerals and nutrients leach out of the from the bones & marrow into the water –  especially if you add Apple Cider Vinegar to your broth (the Read more

What is the buzz about Caffeine?

“Is caffeine bad for me?” A very good question – and the answer isn’t that complicated as long as you know * What caffeine is… * How it affects the body… * and how you can not only manage it, but also make it work to your advantage! So. What is caffeine? All you need to know is that caffeine is a stimulant, and we all know what stimulants do right? They artificially increase your body’s metabolism and the effects are pretty immediate – like those moments after morning cuppa when you are awake, alert and ready to take on the world. But what is actually going on inside? Here we need to consider three hormones: Adrenaline, Read more

Let’s talk about fat baby..

Lets talk about FAT! The 3 letter word we seem to have learned to hate! It has such negative connotations, and we have been programmed into avoiding it at all costs BUTTTTTT there are good fats as well as bad. I’m gonna distinguish between the GOOD, THE BAD AND THE WOBBLY. The big difference is between saturated and un-saturated fats, which you will have heard of in a million adverts but may not have necessarily understood. The easiest way to tell them apart is to remember that Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature and saturated fats are solid. Why is that important I hear you cry?!?! Well imagine olive oil inside your cells. It’s fluid Read more
